Burnout Recovery & Resilience Circle

Heal in Community.

A supportive space to heal, reconnect, & build resilience—together.

Experience the power of collective healing.

Burnout and moral injury don’t just live in us individually—they’re collective experiences that require a collective response. Healing from them isn’t just about self-care; it’s about coming together. This four-week experiential circle isn’t a webinar or a lecture—it’s a space of mutual care, deep listening, and shared resilience. Through guided practices rooted in our Burnout Recovery and Resilience model, we’ll explore ways to regulate our nervous systems, set boundaries that protect our energy, and engage in ritual and creative expression as tools for healing. This isn’t just support—it’s transformation, held in community.

Any blow in life will have longer and more lasting consequences if there is no opportunity to communalize it.

How the Burnout Recovery & Resilience Circle Works

This isn’t a drop-in group or a passive learning experience—it’s a guided four-week journey where we move through the core components of resilience together. Each week, we’ll focus on one pillar of our model of resilience, building on the last to create a deep and integrated healing process.

Through experiential practices, reflection, and discussion, we’ll explore ways to regulate our nervous systems, strengthen our boundaries, reconnect with our own wisdom, and express what needs to be released. The heart of this circle is connection—to ourselves, to each other, and to the shared experience of recovery. Above all, this is a safe and supportive space where we bear witness to one another, weaving community into the healing process.

Quartered circle with sections labeled: Connection with linked figures, Protection with a shield, Regulation with scales, Expression with a broken heart.

Week 1

Connection

We start our journey with connection, exploring what connection means, both within ourselves and in relationship to others, and strengthening our ability to witness and be witnessed. In this session, we will cover:

  • Setting the Container: Establishing a safe, trusting space for the group.

  • Shared Story Weaving: Reflecting on meaningful connections and shared experiences.

  • Mapping Safe Connections: Identifying the people, places, and unseen forces that ground us.

  • Experiential Connection Exercise: Practicing presence through deep connection exercises.

  • Compassion Circle: Closing the session by holding space for each other with care and intention.

Week 2

Protection

In week 2, we move to protection, focusing on boundaries we can setwith ourselves and with othersto reduce our exposure to stressors. We take a systems-aware approach to boundaries, recognizing that asserting oneself is perceived differently depending on factors like gender, culture, and power dynamics. Together, we explore discernment in setting boundaries that honour both personal needs and the realities of the systems we navigate. We’ll also begin the process of co-creating our closing ritual. In this session, we will cover:

  • Setting Internal Boundaries: Establishing habits and practices that support resilience.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Strengthening assertiveness skills, saying no and asking for help.

  • Barriers to Boundaries Exercise: Identifying the internal and external barriers to boundary setting.

  • Ritual Co-Creation: Sharing our personal, ancestral, cultural, and spiritual practices to co-create a healing ritual for moral injury.

  • Compassion Circle: Closing the session by holding space for each other with care and intention.

Week 3

Regulation

Our journey continues in week 3 with regulation, bringing balance to our nervous systems, and supporting each other in moving flexibly from action to rest. In this session, we will cover:

  • Polyvagal theory: Understanding the three states of the nervous system (safety & connection, mobilization, and shutdown) and how they impact our well-being.

  • Somatic Mapping of the Nervous System: Exploring how our bodies experience safety, tension, and shutdown.

  • Co-Regulation Exercise: Drawing on the power of connection to regulate our nervous systems.

  • Polyvagal Exercise: Techniques that activate the ventral vagal nerve to bring safety and calm to our systems.

  • Compassion Circle: Closing the session by holding space for each other with care and intention.

Week 4

Expression

Our journey comes to an end in week 4 when we move to expression, holding space for our painful emotions, giving voice to our anger, sadness, and fear, and allowing ourselves to grieve so that we may heal together. In this session, we will cover:

  • Unblending from Intense Emotions: Reducing the intensity of painful emotions so we can sit with them without needing to avoid, shut down or distract.

  • Finding Hope in Despair: Cultivating resilience and the ability to find meaning and hope even in the most challenging times, with practices that help shift our perspective toward possibility.

  • Healing Ritual: Engaging in a collective ritual to process moral injury, engage our imagination and creativity, and honour the work and sacrifices that have led us to this point..

Common Questions

  • No, this is not group therapy. While there will be emotional sharing and healing, this circle is designed to facilitate collective resilience and healing through experiential practices, not therapeutic intervention. Group therapy involves providing direct therapeutic services, which is distinct from the supportive and experiential focus of this circle.

  • No prior experience is necessary! This circle is designed to be accessible to everyone, whether you’re new to healing practices or already on a deep personal journey. The exercises will be explained clearly, and there’s no pressure to be “perfect.” You’ll have plenty of support as you explore these practices in a safe, non-judgmental space.

  • Expect to be part of a deeply supportive and transformative space where you’ll experience collective healing. Through guided exercises, reflection, and group connection, you'll build resilience, begin to heal burnout and moral injury, and move towards wholeness. You'll gain practical tools for your healing journey that you can continue to apply in your everyday life.

  • While we strongly encourage full participation, we get that’s not always possible. Sessions will be recorded so you can catch up on anything you miss. Please note, however, that for privacy and confidentiality reasons, recordings will only be accessible to registered participants, and may not include all exercises or sharing. We want to ensure that everyone feels safe and secure in this space.

  • We meet online in a private Zoom meeting. You’ll receive the link to join when you register.

  • We are working on it! We hope to offer our first in-person circles later this year. Sign up here to let us know you’re interested, and we’ll update you when we are ready to go.
