Looking for a therapist?
Therapy is a great way to handle some of life's tougher challenges. It can help you manage your emotions, get control over behaviours that bother you, understand yourself better, and work through problems.
I don't currently offer therapy but I'm happy to recommend a few people who do. The therapists listed on this page are people I know in various capacities so I'm comfortable recommending them to you. You can also ask friends and family for the names of therapists they trust, check with your organization or embassy to see if they maintain a list of therapists in your area, and look online for professionals working wherever you are or over Skype.
Claudia Frey is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and chronic pain. She provides individual therapy in her practice in Heidelberg, Germany, and coaching sessions over Skype. Claudia has also created the Ticket to Freedom, an intensive psychotherapy program designed especially for humanitarians. Instead of weekly sessions, the Ticket to Freedom involves intensive sessions over a one- or two-week period that can be completed during an R&R or between assignments.

Lauren Hollett & Susan Valentine
Lauren and Susan are Registered Psychotherapists in Toronto, Canada, who specialize in relationship issues. We help individuals and couples dealing with relationship breakdown, separation or divorce, conflict and communication, betrayal, family difficulties, and deciding whether or not to stay in a relationship. We understand that humanitarians in the field can experience additional challenges in their relationships due to the nature and demands of their work.
