Interviewing and Credibility Workshop

Armed conflicts, torture, natural disasters, and other emergencies have exposed countless people around the world to trauma. Exposure to violence and torture can have profound impacts on the survivor’s ability to talk about their experiences, to relate to other people, to remember life events, and to cope with stress and adversity. There is increasing recognition of the need to respond to survivors of traumatic events in a manner that is sensitive to their experiences and takes into account the neurobiological impact of trauma. At the same time, fraudulent accounts of trauma occur, and humanitarians are often challenged to assess credibility and distinguish false from true accounts.

My training on interviewing and credibility provides participants with scientific knowledge and a skill base to effectively and compassionately respond to survivors of emergencies, natural disasters, and violence, to objectively gather and evaluate information and to make the best possible decision.

This workshop is invaluable for:

  • staff who have direct contact with survivors of violence
  • staff designing and managing programs for affected populations
  • organizations serving populations that have been exposed to violence
